Wild Finland: Berry & Mushroom Foraging Experience

€155.00

Discover the flavours, traditions and beauty of the Finnish forest.

Take a walk through the Finnish wilderness and enjoy the beauty of the surrounding forest and the freshness of the clean Nordic air. Depending on the season, your guide will take you to areas where wild berries and mushrooms can be found and teach you how to forage responsibly and safely.

Picking wild berries and mushrooms is deeply rooted in Finnish culture and cuisine. What began as an important way of gathering food for the long winter months has remained a cherished tradition, bringing families and friends together in the forest generation after generation.

Foraging also has a fascinating place in Finland's history and in the leisure culture of Imperial-era Finland. During the era of the Grand Duchy of Finland, spending time in the Finnish countryside and enjoying its natural surroundings became a popular form of recreation among visitors from Imperial Russia. Even members of the Russian aristocracy and the Romanov family did so during visits to the Grand Duchy.

During your excursion, you'll learn about edible berries and mushrooms as well as the flora and fauna of the surrounding forest. Everything you gather is yours to keep — and, when conditions allow, some of your finds may even become part of the lunch we enjoy together in nature.
